So, this is the final post in my January Project a Day. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing it as much as I’ve enjoyed showing you a window into my everyday life. It’s not very exciting, or very fancy, but its everything to me. I wanted to say a big fat thank you for all your lovely comments on here and on Facebook, as well as your emails of encouragement. It really means the world to me that so many of you take the time to let me know what you think, and I love reading your words. I always get a little worried a week or so in that people will start getting sick of looking at my kids, but I’m ever so grateful that you don’t, and if you do, you keep it to yourselves! (Well, there was that one lady who had strong feelings on Darcy’s nickname, but you can’t please everyone I guess)

Harry, Lily and Darcy are my favourite people in the whole wide world, and I’m so glad I was able to put this one months worth of memories together for them, and that I was able to share it with you too! Hopefully its something they will really enjoy when they are older. I recommend it to all of you!

Ben got home yesterday, much to everyones excitement. All three of them miss him terribly when he’s away, which is a lot, but I think Darcy was the most pleased to see him home this time.

Here they are, snuggling in bed, reading a book and sharing a kiss. Along with Bonnie, of course, who loves a story as much as the next cat.

We’re all going a little stir crazy here with this never ending rain. There’s only so much indoor stuff you can do. We went and had a little play when there was a break in the down pour, and were having a lovely time until The Great Dog Poo Fiasco of 2012, which we wont get into.

Fat Baby has taken to wearing this mask everywhere. Until she sees her reflection and freaks out, rips it off and hides it somewhere. By the time she’s found it again, she’s forgotten all about the fright, wears it to breakfast, sees her reflection and it starts all over again. She is very tiring.

It took some time, but finally, FINALLY I have a photo of The Bear! I had to be a tricksy little Hobbit, but here it is! It is STILL raining and blowing a gale here, so we haven’t been out for a couple of days. But this depicts her perfectly, with the wind blowing her always tangled and messy hair around, a huge cheeky grin showing off that big gap between her teeth, and her beautiful smiley eyes. I can almost hear her giggling!

A silly photo for today, nothing special. Harry let me play with his hair today, which he’s never let me do before. The girls have soft, silky light hair, but he has this thick, course, steel wool feeling mop. So different! He even let me put it in silly piggy tails, which he thought was hilarious.

And I absolutely adore his laugh face.

It’s Australia Day today, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, we stayed at home. No lamingtons, No pavlovas, no slip ‘n’ slide, no bbq. Instead, we lay outside and read Charlottes Web, kicked the soccer ball around, ate watermelon, and when the weather looked like getting nasty again in the afternoon, we all lay on the lounge room floor and watched a movie. Best. Day Ever.

Harry still had to find time for his jobs though…..

So, we are 2 days in to our new lives. School and kindy has left us all a little topsy-turvied, if thats a word. Its left me a little lost too, if I’m honest. It doesn’t make it any easier that Ben’s not here. But not much we can do about it, I guess. It came as a quite shock to Harry that he had to go every day. That our old life of hanging out everyday together was over and this was how things were now. When I told him he would still be doing the whole school thing at 17, he incredulously cried “But I’ll have a beard by then!!!” The whole change has hit him hard, which surprised me. I thought it was Lily I would have trouble with. I went into his room last night and found him quietly crying to himself. He confided in me that while his first day of school was fantastic, he just wasn’t sure if it “was for him”. Lily, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to get back today. His teacher told me today that he asked more than once if he could go to the other side of the school and visit his sister, and tonight at bed time he told me he kept calling the girl he sits next to Lily. I guess when you have spent your whole entire life side by side with your best friend, it would be hard to be separated all of a sudden. He misses her.

I had another photo planned for tonights post, but when I went into check on them, I found he had crept in with her. I guess sometimes all you need to do is hang on to your best friends hand.

Not much of a post tonight I’m afraid. And only iPhone picks.

Today was Harrys first day of school.

And Lily’s first day of Kindy.

And Darcy’s first day back to Day Care.

And just like that, the house was empty.

I had promised the kids that because they start school tomorrow, we could have breakky at McDonalds. Thats a pretty special treat in our house. All they talked about all yesterday was the pancakes they were going to eat.

So, we all pile in the car this morning, everyone in their car seats, and the battery was flat. Then I tripped over on my driveway and skinned my knee. Then when I finally got the car started, Darcy had filled her nappy with what could only be described as The Devil, so out of the car came she, back into the car after she was changed, then I stepped in dog poo, after cleaning thong, drove out of the driveway then had to go back because I forgot my wallet, went home and got wallet, sped to Macdonalds and guess what?!

They were out of Pancakes.

So today is a pretty photo of my Lily Bear, with a frangipani crown I made her this afternoon. Because if I took a photo of my day today? It might just be of me giving the world the finger.

I made Harry a super hero cape out of an old shirt.

If I had of known it would mean he would let me take his photo over and over again, I would have done it ages ago!!!!

20th January 2012 . Day 20

It usually Harrys job in the mornings to feed the chooks and collect the eggs. Today, Darcy wanted to do it, but neglected to tell me until after Harry had already done it! All. Day. Long, she went on and on and on about how *she* had wanted to do it. She drove me bananas!

She went back and forth all day, checking if anymore eggs had been laid, only to come back sad: “No googies, mama! All gone! Nordy chookens!!!”

Finally, late this afternoon, we all went down and (thankfully) one warm egg was waiting for her. Its almost like they squeezed an extra one out just so she would leave them alone!

Thank Gawd, said I.

Hooray! said she.

Then she dropped it on the ground.
