The 5 Minute Project http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/the-filly/ http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/the-filly/#comments Sun, 16 Feb 2014 03:27:21 +0000 http://elhoganphotography.com.au/blog/?p=4524 I’ve been doing “5 minutes with” for a few years now, and I love the simplicity of creating beautiful images in such a small timeframe.  No pressure, no restraints, just seeing what beauty there is in a really small window of happiness, or sadness, or light, or friendship or activity. You can see some of these sessions here and here. So when Dana Pugh, a Canadian Photographer, approached me about being part of a small group of amazing photographers that were doing something similar, I jumped at the chance! Every other Wednesday I post on the blog 5 Minute Project , and every Friday a submission is accepted from someone outside of the group, so get in contact if you’d like to play along!

I adore photographing underwater. I love the calming sound I hear when I look at the images. I love the peaceful feeling I get.  And I love the freedom my kids feel.

This sweet filly lives on our road. She just loves the kids and runs to the fence when she sees them!

Seisha http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/seisha/ http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/seisha/#comments Thu, 05 Dec 2013 04:18:18 +0000 http://elhoganphotography.com.au/blog/?p=4348 Last week, in a brave attempt to protect Darcy and I, my beautiful old dog, my oldest and dearest friend, was viciously attacked  in our front yard by a dog who had escaped his own enclosure. We arrived home, got out of our car, to be greeted by our beautiful old girl, who is quite deaf and mostly blind, and she mustn’t have noticed the strange dog in her yard. The dog showed his teeth to Darcy and I, and in a futile attempt to protect her family, she stood between us and the aggressive animal. She  was viciously mauled for her loyalty. I shared the sad news on my Instagram, but I’m so pleased to say that, against all odds, the tough old girl survived. A little worse for wear, lots of stitches in her neck and chest, but she’s alive! She has had a very rough year, and at the ripe old age of 16, I have thought I’d be saying good bye to her a few times already, but she’s simply not ready to leave us just yet.

I am so proud of her loyalty and of her bravery.

Here’s some images of the day we bought her home from the vet.

You can see in her beautiful face how proud she is of her family. She really is the very best human I know.

5 minutes with Darcy… http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/30-seconds-with-darcy/ http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/30-seconds-with-darcy/#comments Thu, 27 Jun 2013 04:27:11 +0000 http://elhoganphotography.com.au/blog/?p=3404 The grubs are slowly eating their way through our veggie garden. They are a force that seemingly cannot be stopped. They are the bane of Darcy’s existence. We spend time together everyday lovingly hand pulling them off each and every leaf. She gives each one a stern talking to before she squishes them, but always says ‘sowee little gwubby” before she does so. I asked her what she was feeling, and being ever the drama queen she is, the face fell and she feigned defeat: “There’s just too many gwubbys, mama. How will we ebber stop dem all! Eben if we was a octopus wid all dem arms we would nebber get dem all!!!”, followed by a dramatic sigh and a shake of her head. I’m sure she will win an Oscar one day.

Look at that little face. No wonder she has me wrapped around her little finger….

30 seconds with Darcy… http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/30-seconds-with-darcy-2/ http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/30-seconds-with-darcy-2/#comments Sat, 13 Apr 2013 07:30:56 +0000 http://elhoganphotography.com.au/blog/?p=3108 Now, I may be biased, but I’m finding I’m hard pressed to find anything more delicious than a chubby little tomboy dancing in a sun shower wearing tutudumonde.

I could live for a lifetime on just 30 seconds with her.

PS: this dress came from this awesome kids boutique shop called Amelie & Violet. They have the most beautiful kids things!!

30 seconds with Harry http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/30-seconds-with-harry/ http://elhoganphotography.com.au/index.php/30-seconds-with-harry/#comments Tue, 12 Mar 2013 04:36:46 +0000 http://elhoganphotography.com.au/blog/?p=2628 Heres another quick outtake from my January Photo a Day. This is literally 30 seconds with Harry, walking back from a fishing adventure. I must have said something ridiculously funny. Probably do do with farts and/or bum faces. How can you not smile at his sweet little face!!!!???!!I should interview him next time, ask him some questions so you can get to know him a little better!

This is the one I chose for my photo for the day….

And here are the rest.
